Match report:
NFL Champions Dempo SC were held to their second consecutive goalless draw by Goan rivals Fransa-Pax FC in a 10th National League match at the Nehru Stadium, Margao. Both sides now have two points from two matches without having scored or conceeded any goals so far.
Both teams should either thank or curse the goalkeepers Dempo's Abhijit Mondal and Fransa's veteran Virender Singh, who is back into form in his old days, for their outstanding performances. After the match Virender Singh was named "Man of the Match". In the first half Fransa looked the better of the two sides having some good chances through their foreign strikers Brazilian Ivan Fiel da Silva and South African Sydney B Nkalanga. Nkalanga was making his debut after having been cleared to play for Fransa on loan from East Bengal. Ivan was in better shape today than in earlier matches, but Mondal was rock solid in goal giving nothing away. In the second half Dempo had more of the chances, but Virender was there to deny Dempo's Nigerian sharpshooter Ranty Martins Soleye the winner on more than one occasion.
