Indian U16 National Team at the Lions Cup 1998:
The Indian under-16 team won the Lions City football championship in Singapore. The Indian boys, who played spiritedly throughout the tournament, defeated Perth XI 3-0 in the final. India played five matches in the tournament and won all, scoring 25 goals, in the process they conceded only a goal in the final. The Indian striker Trijit Das was top scorer at the Lions Cup with nine goals, while his co-striker Biman Mondal scored eight goals. Against Vietnam India's U16 team scored 11 goals, the highest win by an Indian team in over 20 years.
